FINAL PRODUCT: MUSIC VIDEO

As determined in my research and planning, I have uploaded my music video to Youtube and here is the finished product:

DECONSTRUCTION AND EVALUATION-NOTES

A deconstruction of my music video for my remix single-

The opening scene is a close up of the turning pages of a magazine, a familiar image or experience to most of us.
I heightened the contrast and saturation of the raw footage to give a more garrish apperance i hoped would have more impact. The white hands, appear ghostly in comparison as they stroke the pages.
Throughout the piece is used quick cuts and repeated frames in an attempt to disorientate my audience slightly, as in Gandrys work, particularlly Bjorks Human behaviour
whereby the viewer feels projected into scenes and less behind a screen.
The scenes are not in chronolgical order, and begin with the magazine close up followed by an exterior shot. The cutaway depicts the collision between two characters,
focussing in on the confusion in their steps on impact.
This works off one of Propps functions in the violation of the hero/heroine by the villian of the piece. The final character to interject is that of a stereotype.
Here, I used the costume of a sharp suit, white shirt to play on the stereotype of a buisnessman i then attempted to accentuate that
connotation with the audience by having the character produce a wallet from his suit. Here the camera is placed as though the chest of the
buisnessman which protudes and follows the tight grip of the character on his bank cards.
Although more of a hidden influence, the stripes on the suit were based on the lines that make up the barcode on products as explored by Scott blake,
that has so influenced the content and form of this video.
I used low angle cut in shots along with low key lighting to give the effect of the authority and dominance of the character. The repeated shot close up of his hand brushing back his hair was to
suggest a begrudging attitude as though the task that is about to be forgone has been excuted many times before and has become somwhat of a chore.
The repeated cut ins used throught the piece was intended to be reminiscent of the style of the fashion film maker Ruth Hogben, in this way
I wanted to accentuate the post-modern approach i was attempting by cmobining genres includling though the remix of audio tracks, to critisce the monotony of the current popular music video.
I was not attempting to disengage the audience  by doing this, and i was certianly not concerned about making a satire or parody,
but left the words of Thurston moore to merely question the viewer of our role in music, and whether capitalism has come to affect it more than we contemplate.
The symbol of the barcode is referre to again in the iron bars in the background, this was to suggest the evading prescence of the symbol in more
than one situation as codes are crucial to our daily lives. One medium shot is taken from behind these iron bars and follows the 'villian' of the piece, suggesting her entrapment and controlled existence.
The red heels worn by this character are also offering the connotation of wealth, vanity and an attitude of self-importance in the character.
This is juxtaposed with the flat soles and jeans visble on the opposing character, who walks in the opposite direction. The collision represents the crossing of paths, but in a forceful and unwanted manner.
The audience is then placed just off a point of view shot, as we see the 'task' the buisness man has been given.
The wooden figurine model is to symbolise the untouched possibilities of movement and action as in an undiscovered musician,
the wood has been carved and smoothed by artful skill representing the true skill and talent in live music and the musicians. The model itself denotes an object used for purposes of art and drawing also.
The world appears open to them which is suggested by the position of the arms, outsretched and waiting to know of their next movement to inspire an artful result.
However, the hands of the faceless businessman force a blue light to change out view of the model and create harsh shapes and shadows.
The hands reach for the wallet seen in the first scene and are checking the contents.
The idea that this character is altering the light and then checking his wallett are to suggest that his job is to change and alter how we see the model (a object symbolising the artist/musician), in order for his
financial gains to appear.
And now we cut to a scene shot in black and white. apart from my own apprectaition for the classic qualities of a black and white image it refers again to the tones of the barcode as well as symbolising a change in time. This is loosley referring to the 'villian' of the piece as infact, having been the victim. She appears trapped in a room of hanging headphones and audio input devices. This is to make the audience question her imprisonment when surrounded by something she would recognise as a musician (which is suggested through the use of props and costume, the guitar and moderate 'punk' influenced clothing. The lines of the barcode are echoed in both the hanging wires that surround her, in her clothing and the strings of her guitar are later focused on.
